What is it with people still using the term UAV?
Indian Armed Forces to Address Future Plans for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
India’s interest in VTOL, MALE and UCAV not only confirms the value of these aircrafts as a priority for the country, but also introduces the need for an information-sharing platform regarding India’s future plans and programmes with unmanned aerial vehicles.
For this reason, the Indian Armed Forces are providing support to Defence IQ for the forthcoming, inaugural UAV India 2011 conference, taking place 5th-7th September in New Delhi, India. Senior-level speakers of the Indian Army and the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation include:
  • Major General Vikas Joshi, Additional Director General Artillery, Indian Army
  • Brigadier General Shekar Gupta, Artillery Directorate, Indian Army
  • Colonel JP Singh, Project Manager-PUSHPAK-Directorate of Artillery, Indian Army
  • Dr. P.S. Krishnan, Director- Aeronautical Development Establishment, Defence Research and Development Organisation
  • Dr. Siva Sankaran , Project Manager- Nishant Aeronautical Development Establishment, Defence Research and Development Organisation
As one of the emerging markets for unmanned aerial vehicles, India has opened its doors for international military and industry members to gain essential insight into the country’s UAV acquisition programmes, as well as hear from international leaders on advances in the UAV platform and payload technologies.
“UAV India 2011 will allow me to share my views of the challenges that lie ahead in UAV requirements, capabilities and operations, as well as seek the views of a diverse Indian and International delegate listing,” comments speaker Air Commodore Graham Farnell from the UK MoD.
Additional speakers represent international organisations such as the US Air Force, Israeli Air Force, Italian Air Force, Philippines National Department of Defence, JAPCC NATO, British Army, DGA, US Office of Naval Research, and DE&S UK MoD.
